The Barmies

'The Barmies' - the new cricket awards voted for by the fans

Best England Player over the last twelve months? Cooky? Jimmy A? Charlotte Edwards? Matty Prior? Now you can have your say and vote in the new cricket awards, 'The Barmies'. With five award categories, The Barmies look to acknowledge the best players over the last twelve months from a fans perspective and recognise those that play a part in the beautiful game behind the scenes.

Any and every cricket fan can vote and have their say.

The five award categories are:

  • Barmy Army Award for England Male Player of the Year 2012/13
  • Barmy Army Award for England Female Player of the Year 2012/13
  • Barmy Army Award for International Player of the Year 2012/13
  • Barmy Army Medal for Distinguished Services on Tour
  • Barmy Army Medal for Services to Cricket

  • The player awards are all for performance over the last 12 months (so from April 2012 to end of March 2013) and you can vote for any player you think fits the bill and deserves to win.

Barmy Army Medal for Distinguished Services on Tour is for any tourists past or present who you think should be recognised for their contribution to touring - perhaps they always make you laugh on tour, have always made you feel welcome or have written your favourite song.

Barmy Army Medal for Services to Cricket is for anyone involved in cricket - this could be anyone from Andy Flower through to your local groundsman, just someone you think should be recognised for their contribution to our beautiful game.

For both the Barmy Army Medal for Distinguished Services on Tour and the Barmy Army Medal for Services to Cricket we would love to receive your suggestions as to who should be considered. To do so, please email media@barmyarmy.com. The final discussion on these awards will be made by The Barmies Committee.

Voting will close on Tuesday 30th April. The awards ceremony will take place in May 2013 in London. Full details to follow.
