England wrapped up their tour of South Africa in style on Sunday as the tourists secured victory in the T20 series in dramatic circumstances–chasing down 222 to win at Supersport Park.
The three-match series proved the ideal way to conclude what has been an enthralling few months of cricket and a fantastic advert for the game.
It has told us a lot about this England side and allowed them to learn a lot about themselves, particularly in the Test arena where they claimed a fantastic 3-1 series win.
It was a famous victory for Joe Root’s men and they were backed throughout by the support of the Barmy Army.
Our members roared them on during the series, competed in some fantastic exhibition games and took in a lot of what South Africa had to offer.
We were joined by plenty of experienced campaigners and some new faces, including comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, and said goodbye to our famous trumpeter, Billy.
Check out our recap of the Barmy Army’s time in South Africa in 2019/20 below…
As is the way with cricket, there is barely time for a break as Root and his side begin their Test tour of Sri Lanka next month.
The sub-continent will serve up some very different challenges for England but looks set up to be a fantastic contest.
The Three Lions will fancy their chances of picking up back-to-back series victories and the Barmy Army will be there to help them do just that.
Bring on Sri Lanka!
