England have stepped up their preparations for the upcoming two-match Test series in Sri Lanka over the past week.
Chris Silverwood’s side face Sri Lanka in the first Test in Galle in just over a week’s time and will no doubt want to ensure that they’re in the best place possible, both mentally and physically, by the time the first ball is bowled.
Their tour of South Africa ended in success, with England securing victories in both the Test and T20 series, but it started in the worst possible way as sickness ravaged the Three Lions camp.

Joe Root’s men have not had to face those sort of problems this time around (and knock on wood they don’t have to in the future) but the ECB did announce precautionary measures today that aim to protect the health of the players and ensure the continuation of the series amidst the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.
The two-match series against Sri Lanka looks like it is set to go ahead and England’s preparations are well underway.
The tourists made an impressive start to the tour in their first warm-up game against Sri Lanka Cricket XI earlier this week.
Joe Root, Zak Crawley, and Ollie Pope all made scores with the bat, while leg spinner Matt Parkinson certainly gave Silverwood and Root something to think about ahead of the first Test by taking 4-68.
The excitement is really starting to build as the start of the series edges ever closer. England have one more warm-up game to play, a four-day match against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI that begins tomorrow, and then it’s on to the series itself!
We can hardly wait and it seems the England team can’t either as they’ve been quick to keep fans updated on their preparations on social media.
