Fancy winning a trip to the cricket and potentially a lifetime touring with the Barmy Army?
As many of you will have seen in our announcement earlier this year, our world famous musician ‘Billy the Trumpet’ has now retired from Barmy Army duties. This means that we are now on the look-out for the next musical icon of English cricket to inspire the army all around the world.
The role of the Barmy Army musician is perhaps one of the most coveted job in the sport music industry. Since the announcement we have had hundreds of people enquiring as to our plans for the future…with the majority informing us that they have started taking trumpet, singing, trombone lessons in the meantime!
However, we are not solely on the lookout for a trumpeter. Singers, musicians of all instruments and people who are just willing to stand up with a flag and belt their heart out for the England team are now invited to audition for #BarmiesGotTalent
We are asking you to be creative with your applications as we look for the best ‘fan’ talent from all around the world to inspire the next generation. Don’t worry if you’re not a classically trained singer, a budding pop star or if your musical prowess isn’t quite yet up to professional standards… we are more interested in enthusiasm, creativity, originality, personality and being Barmy!
So, please send us your videos on Twitter using the hashtag #BarmiesGotTalent and don’t forget EVERYONE can enter. We want to see:
- New Barmy Army songs – lyrics only or music as well
- Your personal twist on Barmy Army classics
- Instrumental solos
- Singing solos…no matter what the standard
- Group/band applications
- …anything else that makes your application stand out!
Applications are welcome for the next few weeks whilst the country looks for things to pass the time!
The best entries will go to a poll for the chosen winner to win tickets for them and three friends to a day at the cricket with the Barmy Army this summer.
So let’s have some fun and keep our spirits up! Get your creative juices flowing and tweet us your video to @TheBarmyArmy using hashtag #BarmiesGotTalent
