The past few months without cricket have seemed an age but progress is now being made toward a potential return, with England thought to be optimistic about hosting matches this summer.
18 bowlers, understood to be a mix of centrally contracted players and those called up from county sides, returned to individual training at county grounds around the country this week.
The ECB have confirmed previously that the player will be following strict protocols relating to testing, social distancing, and hygiene to ensure the health and safety of them and the coach staff remains paramount.
Batsmen and wicketkeepers are expected to follow at the start of June, with England thought to be set to bring a pool of around 30 players back training in preparation for a summer of international cricket.
It remains unclear what cricket, if any, we will get to see this summer but seeing some of Joe Root’s key weapons back with a ball in their hand is something that will likely bring joy to any England fan.
Clearly, the returning bowlers were excited about getting back underway as well as a number of them took to social media to show fans that they were back at work.
