The England squad has arrived in Sri Lanka ahead of the Test series later this month.
Joe Root’s side are in quarantine at the moment but should be able to begin the preparations for their first series of 2021 later this week, with the first Test scheduled to get underway next Thursday.
Both games will be played behind-closed-doors at Galle International Stadium and while having no supporters present is understandable in the current circumstances, it is still gutting that we can’t be there.
England will be eyeing a fourth Test series win in a row but have made some changes to their squad with a busy schedule awaiting them in 2021.
Ben Stokes and Rory Burns are both absent for personal reasons, while Jofra Archer has been rested and though Ollie Pope has travelled with the squad, he is unlikely to feature as his recovery from shoulder surgery continues.
The Three Lions have still have a very strong squad, though, and having arrived in Sri Lanka, some of the players have taken to social media ahead of the start of the Tests.
Here are a few of our favourite posts, including one from the skipper…
Happy to be in Sri Lanka and looking forward to playing cricket again! 🇱🇰
