England have named their squad for the upcoming five-match IT20 series in India, which gets underway on the 12th of March.
The tourists have made a strong start to their multi-format tour of India, with Joe Root’s Test side 1-0 up in their four-match series, and there is going to be extra emphasis on the 20-over contests ahead of the World Cup later this year.
India are the tournament hosts, which means the series – all of which is to be played at the new 110,000-seater Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad – should provide Eoin Morgan’s team with some vital preparation.
The squad for the IT20 series is as follows:
Eoin Morgan (Middlesex) (captain), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Sam Billings (Kent), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Sam Curran (Surrey), Tom Curran (Surrey), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Dawid Malan (Yorkshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), Reece Topley (Surrey), and Mark Wood (Durham).
Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball and Lancashire spinner Matt Parkinson have both been named as reserves.
The players that are not currently with the Three Lions camp in India will fly out on Friday the 26th of February.
England have utilised a resting strategy when it comes to their multi-format players this winter, with the likes of Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, and Ben Stokes, all having missed part of their schedule.
The squad for the three-match ODI series due to follow the IT20s is yet to be announced.
