Jos Buttler has been named the Barmy Army’s Player of the Series for the India v England T20 series after receiving 42% of the vote in our recent fan poll.
Though travelling fans were unable to be there in Ahmedabad to roar on Eoin Morgan’s side, the support from home never wavered as England were narrowly beaten by their hosts.
As the original England supporters club, we wanted to make sure the fans got a chance to have their voices heard on the back of the India T20 series, so we asked you to vote for your Player of the Series.
Buttler came out on top after winning 42% of the public vote, having opened the batting for the tourists and finished as our highest run-scorer with 172 at an average of 43.
Mark Wood received the second-largest share of the vote (32%), followed by Jofra Archer (24%) and Jason Roy (1%).
India won Saturday’s decider to take the series 3-2 and though it was a shame not to claim victory, there was no shortage of entertainment and quality cricket on offer.
With the T20 World Cup set to be played in India later this year, the five-match series will likely prove to be vital preparation for the tournament.
The focus now shifts to the final leg of the tour, the three-match ODI series – which gets underway on Tuesday.
