The red-ball contests will see the two sides contest the Richards-Botham Trophy for the first time, which honours two greats of the game – Lord Ian Botham and Sir Viv Richards – and pays tribute to the close friendship and respect between England and the West Indies.

“It’s fantastic to hear that the 2022 tour of the West Indies has been extended,” said Barmy Army managing director Chris Millard. “It really is a tour like no other.”

“The Barmy Army always excel on and off the field there. It’s an incredibly fun place to tour with lots to do in the days and the evenings.

“We can’t wait to get back there and, hopefully, to come away with a 3-0 series win after we’ve just won the Ashes.

“It is going to be an amazing tour, we’re very excited for some sun, sea, and rum.”

ECB CEO Tom Harrison matched Chris’ enthusiasm and added: “A tour to the Caribbean is one of the most iconic for both England players and fans alike.

“So, we are delighted to confirm that our England men’s team will play two additional IT20s and one more Test Match as part of their planned tours in January and March respectively.”
