England face a nervous wait over Jonny Bairstow’s fitness after the explosive batsman picked up an injury in the T20 Blast game between Yorkshire and Worcestershire yesterday.
Bairstow played a brutal innings to help his side hammer their opponents, making 112 from just 51 balls as he reminded us just how good he is, but it was marred by the injury he suffered after making his first 56 runs.
That was brilliant, @jbairstow21! 👏

The wicket-keeper batsman appeared to injure his ankle running for a single and though he was able to finish his innings with strapping on and Adam Lyth as his runner, Bairstow looked uncomfortable and was unable to keep for Yorkshire in Worcestershire’s innings.
That leaves England and Eoin Morgan waiting nervously on his fitness, with the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka scheduled to get underway next Wednesday in Cardiff.
Bairstow was named in the 16-strong squad for that series and with Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Reece Topley all missing due to injury, England will not want to lose him as they ramp up their preparations for the T20 World Cup later this year.
Hopefully, Jonny can make a swift recovery and will be ready to feature for the upcoming series.
