England will play three ODIs against the Netherlands in Amstelveen in June 2022 with “huge numbers” of Barmy Army supporters and a “carnival atmosphere” predicted for what is our first tour of the country.

The series, which is part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, was originally scheduled to be played in May this year but was postponed in November 2020 with both the KNCB and the ECB determined to ensure the matches were played in front proper crowds.

The ECB announced the new dates for the three ODIs earlier this week, confirming England will play the Netherlands at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen on Friday the 17th, Sunday the 19th, and Wednesday the 22nd of June.

The ODIs are set to take place between the second (10/06 – 14/06) and third (23/06 – 27/06) Tests of the England v New Zealand series, which will surely mean Eoin Morgan and Joe Root will lead completely separate squads.

Even so, the tour of the Netherlands promises to be a memorable one with Barmy Army managing director Chris Millard predicting a fantastic turnout and an unforgettable trip.

He said: “We are delighted that England will finally play their long-overdue three ODIs in the Netherlands.

“We have been looking forward to this tour for a really long time now. Holland is such an accessible place for everyone to travel to and have a real experience of a Barmy Army tour.

“We are expecting huge numbers for the trip and we want to make it a real carnival atmosphere. We hope to see you all there!”

Tickets for the tour of the Netherlands are not yet available but as of the 1st of November, Barmy Army members can purchase tickets for England’s home schedule for summer 2022.
