Ben Foakes, Saqib Mahmood, Matt Parkinson, and Dom Sibley have been included in the 14-strong England Lions squad for the tour of Australia this winter.
They were among the notable omissions from the Ashes squad that was announced earlier this month but will be travelling down under this winter and be in a camp alongside Joe Root’s squad.
The ECB announced the full Lions squad, which includes four players capped at Test level and four that are new to the Lions setup, today. It is as follows:
Tom Abell (Somerset), Josh Bohannon (Lancashire), James Bracey (Gloucestershire), Brydon Carse (Durham), Mason Crane (Hampshire), Matthew Fisher (Yorkshire), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Alex Lees (Durham), Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire), Liam Norwell (Warwickshire), Matt Parkinson (Lancashire) Dom Sibley (Warwickshire), Jamie Smith (Surrey), and Rob Yates (Warwickshire).
The dates and venues of those matches are still to be confirmed but they’re expected to take place between the end of the T20 World Cup in mid-November but before the start of the series on the 8th of December.
Coaching appointments are set to be announced in due course.
