England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out until the summer after undergoing a second operation on his injured right elbow.
The 26-year-old has not featured for the Three Lions since March this year and missed the T20 World Cup in India, though there were hopes he might make a late appearance in the 2021/22 Ashes down under.
Unfortunately, that is not going to happen as the ECB have confirmed that Archer will miss the rest of England’s Winter schedule after having another surgery earlier this month to address the long-standing stress fracture of his right elbow.
A return date for Sussex quick has not yet been set but will be determined in due time.
England are due to play a five-match IT20 series in the West Indies in January, followed by a three-match Test series in March.
It’s a gutting blow for Archer, who is one of the most feared all-format bowlers in world cricket when fit but has been so unlucky with injury issues in recent years.
Jofra has the support of everyone at the Barmy Army. We hope he can make a full, swift recovery and cannot wait to see him back in England whites in the summer.
