England announce squads for India white-ball series

England have announced the squads for the upcoming T20 and ODI series against India, which get underway next week.

The two series will be Jos Buttler’s first as captain after it was confirmed yesterday that he’d been named Eoin Morgan’s replacement.

The Edgbaston Test between England and India is set to conclude on Monday and the three-match T20 series will start on Thursday (07/07) at the Ageas Bowl.

Jos Buttler (Lancashire) (c), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Sam Curran (Surrey), Richard Gleeson (Lancashire), Chris Jordan (Surrey), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Dawid Malan (Yorkshire), Tymal Mills (Sussex), Matthew Parkinson (Lancashire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Phil Salt (Lancashire), Reece Topley (Surrey) and David Willey (Yorkshire).

The three-match ODI series will get underway on the following Tuesday (12/07) at the Kia Oval.

Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid has been given permission by the ECB to miss both series to make the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Everyone at the Barmy Army wishes Rash well!

Lancashire bowler Richard Gleeson could be in line to make his England debut in the T20 series after being called up to the squad on the back of an impressive T20 Blast campaign.

The full schedule for the white-ball leg of India’s tour is:

T20 series

1st IT20: England v India, Thursday 7 July 2022, Ageas Bowl (6.00pm start)

2nd IT20: England v India, Saturday 9 July 2022. Edgbaston (2.30pm start)

3rd IT20: England v India, Sunday 10 July 2022, Trent Bridge (2.30pm start)

ODI series

1st ODI: England v India, Tuesday 12 July, Kia Oval, (1.00pm start)

2nd ODI: England v India, Thursday 14 July, Lord’s (1.00pm start)

3rd ODI: England v India, Sunday 17 July, Emirates Old Trafford (11.00am start)
