England Men’s and Women’s matches to resume on Saturday

The ECB have confirmed that the third and final England v South Africa Men’s Test match at the Oval will resume on Saturday along with all international, domestic, and recreational fixtures.

Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace yesterday that the Queen had passed away, the decision was made to suspend all fixtures on Friday as a mark of respect.

The ECB has now announced that play will resume tomorrow for all international, domestic, and recreational fixtures.

That includes the decisive England v South Africa Men’s Test at the Oval as well as the first England v India Women’s T20 at Durham and the England and Sri Lanka Men’s U19 match.

A minute of silence will be held before each match followed by the national anthem while all players and coaches will wear black armbands and any branded inventory will be replaced with messaging paying cricket’s respects to The Queen.

The ECB said in a statement: “The England and Wales Cricket Board can confirm that play will resume from Saturday including international, domestic, and recreational fixtures. The decision has been taken after consultation with DCMS and in line with Official National Mourning guidance.”

The England v South Africa match will resume with Saturday as day three, with 98 overs a day over the final days, as the tourists are due to fly back home on Tuesday, the day after the final Test was originally scheduled to finish.

Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first on Thursday but no play was able to take place due to rain.
