Pakistan Tour 2024: Barmy Army Pre-Tour Vist

Pakistan. It’s an immense place. The food, the hospitality, the welcome, all without mentioning the obsession of cricket! It’s really quite staggering how great Pakistan is for tourism.

It can take you a little by surprise, the intensity of life and experiences around you. You absolutely have to head into town on a TukTuk, sample some of the street food and soak it all in – it’s incredible and chaotic in equal measure.

The passion and intensity of the Pakistani people towards both cricket and tourism is immediately obvious – it will make for a great tour and trip for fans heading over there for England’s Test series this October!

Multan

The experience of visiting Multan can take a little getting used to. The government and organisers in the area are intent on ensuring tourists have a great time in the region, and have ensured there are strict security protocols in place.

It was difficult for me to understand their levels of precaution – I felt completely safe throughout the trip and Multan was no different. It can take you aback slightly, though. Police are legally obliged to escort tourists to all of their destinations outside the hotel. Hotels are legally obliged to ensure guests don’t leave the hotel without this escort.

We’ll have a direct line to ensure our Travel Group always has a Police Escort available on an evening at our hotel – a significant benefit to travelling with Barmy Army Travel.

The food scene in Multan is epic – great clusters in the town of authentic and international  restaurants. All phenomenal quality and good value. The food in Multan is going to be something quite special after a day’s cricket.

Karachi

The hustle and bustle of Karachi is like no other city. Street food is rife throughout the city and we’re going to struggle for time to try it all!

The 5* Movenpick hotel has five restaurants too, as well as a gym, spa & cigar lounge facilities. This location could easily be a three week holiday in its own right, and that’s before you’ve left this magnificent hotel…

The ground here is also one of the most spacious Pakistan offers – they’ll be putting on hospitality throughout the Test for the Tour Group. No doubt this will be an immense value add to a day at the cricket!

Rawalpindi

It’s commonly known for being a twin city with Islamabad, so there’s absolutely loads of culture to see within a half hour drive of the hotel. Once you’re wrapped up at the cricket for the day, and on day’s off, we’ll have excursions all across both cities, plenty of superb restaurant options and time spare to enjoy the 5* Pearl Continental’s facilities.

Hunza Valley Extension

This could easily be a full tour in its own right, and our four day extension will still not quite do Hunza Valley justice! Pakistan’s Northern mountain range forms part of the Himalayas, and the drives and excursions during this aspect of the trip are breathtaking (sometimes quite literally).

Kilometres upon kilometres of views along the River Indus, the Mountain Deserts and Shigar Fort within Hunza Valley. The people are some of the most genuine and helpful I’ve ever met – four days here will change your perspective on life itself!

General Advice

The trip does come with some advice. I’d highly recommend having hand sanitizer, toilet roll and mosquito repellent with you at all times – just to be sure you don’t miss 24 hours of your trip. The food will be some of the best you’ve ever tasted, and your stomach may well reiterate that…
