The 2025/26 Fans Bashes Series Kicks Off at Perth’s Iconic WACA

The Barmy Army is thrilled to announce that the first match of the 2025/26 Bashes series will take place at the legendary WACA Ground in Perth on Thursday, 20th November 2025 starting at midday. This year’s series continues a proud tradition, with Barmy Army CC facing an Australia Fans XI in a 5 Match T20 Series. The matches are typically played the day before each test match across the country during the Ashes tour.

From the inaugural Bashes Series against the Fanatics during the 2006/07 Series, the matches have become a highlight of the summer, bringing together fans in the same competitive spirit as the professionals — though with a little more banter and a lot of passion. This year, the Barmy Army will face five local Australian sides, taking the rivalry to some of the country’s best club grounds and, for the first time, an ex-Test match venue, the iconic WACA.

The Barmy Army currently hold the Bashes having won the Series 3-2 beating the Richies in a thrilling climax during the COVID Series in Perth. This mirrored the scoreline in 2017/18 when they clinched the deciding match in a thriller at The Coogee Oval where their team included Matt and Billy Root, Joe’s dad and brother. The matches have raised tens of thousands of dollars for charities including the McGrath Foundation and The Broad Appeal.

Adam Canning, Barmy Army Commercial & Operations Director, said: “We’re absolutely over the moon to be taking the Bashes to the legendary WACA Ground for the very first time. This venue is steeped in Ashes history, and for our members to have the opportunity to play on the same pitch that has seen so many iconic moments in cricket is incredible.

“It’s not just about the cricket — it’s about bringing our passion and a historic rivalry to a ground that has meant so much to generations of players and supporters alike. We can’t wait for our members to enjoy either playing or supporting, creating memorable moments in what promises to be an unforgettable start to the 2025/26 Bashes series…and of course a brilliant warm up ahead of the main event the next day.”

Aston Turner added: “Grateful to have such a passionate group of cricket fans and the support of the City of Perth to come to get to help make our game accessible to everyone.”

Fans from both sides are very welcome to come and support their respective teams, admission will be just $10 for Barmy Army members and followers, and the fun will start at midday on Thursday 20th November, with the main game between Barmy Army and an Aussie Fans XI. The bar will be open, and food will be available throughout the afternoon along with a market and merchandise stall. Straight after the game the Barmy Army will be heading off to The Camfield for their Ultimate Ashes Party.

The Perth Bashes match will be part of West Fest, a city-wide celebration from 21–25 November 2025 that unites cricket and entertainment across multiple venues, including Perth Stadium, the WACA Ground, and Burswood Park. Anchored by the opening men’s Ashes Test from 21–25 November, West Fest promises to light up the city with a blockbuster program of live sport, music, food, fan experiences, and cultural moments, creating an electric summer atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.
