England travel to Pakistan this October for a three match Test series. If you’ve made the best decision of your life and booked a Barmy Army Travel package – here’s 10 things you’ll need to bring with you:
1. The Essentials
As per GOV.uk, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months from the date of your visa application. You will need a visa to enter or travel through Pakistan. For information on how to apply, see the Government of Pakistan’s online visa information.
2. Adapter Plugs
For Pakistan, there are two associated plug types, C and D. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and type D is the plug which has three round pins in a triangular pattern. Pakistan operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
3. Barmy Army Tour Shirt
You’ll have this sent out to you if you’re part of a Barmy Army Travel Tour group. Don’t forget it and wear it with pride.
4. Imodium and electrolytes
Look, we will be honest. Your body might take a small adjustment to the food. Pakistani grub is completely delicious but our simple English stomachs aren’t used to the level of spices they cook with! So be sure to have some meds on you just in case.
5. Travel Insurance
A prerequisite to any trip abroad. Whilst booking with Barmy Army Travel will ensure your package is ATOL and ABTA protected, be sure to have travel insurance just in case.
6. N.B. Not Your Match Tickets
If you’re on a Barmy Army Travel package, we sort this out for you! So don’t worry about your tickets as your travel rep will give these to you on the way to the ground and will ensure you are sat right in the mix with our trumpeter.
7. Suncream
SPF is key. The Pakistani sun is pretty consistent and fierce in the middle of the day so be safe.
8. Hand sanitiser
It’s important to keep your hands clean in Pakistan as hygiene levels can differ to what we are used to in the UK. Keeping a bottle on you and getting used to applying can go a long way to keeping in good shape for cricket.
9. Swimming Gear
Many of the hotels in Pakistan have very nice swimming pools to have a dip. It gets pretty warm throughout October and you’ll be glad to be able to cool off!
10. Some trousers
Although temperatures soar, it can get a bit chillier in the evenings especially up in the north. Also – there are certain cultural visits where you will be required to cover your legs so it’s best to have a pair on you.
