Greetings from Hyderabad!
The excitement is building as England’s Test series against India kicks off tomorrow, and we’re right here in India, cheering our boys on to make history. It will be a thrilling series; we can’t wait to see what unfolds.
England’s recent performances in India have been underwhelming. After their remarkable series victory in 2012/13, led by Captain Cook, England have won only one Test out of the last nine played in India.
During their most recent visit, England took a 0-1 lead in the series, largely thanks to an outstanding double-century from Rooty. However, India bounced back and won the series convincingly 3-1, reaffirming their dominance in the subcontinent.
While undoubtedly their toughest Test, England’s Bazball revolution is yet to lose a series, whether they are playing at home or away. Their new approach to Test cricket and new talent breaking into the squad brings fresh optimism to the fans ahead of this series.
ICYMI, here’s England’s full Test squad for the upcoming series:
Ben Stokes (captain), Rehan Ahmed, James Anderson, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow (wicketkeeper), Shoaib Bashir, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Tom Hartley, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Mark Wood.
As always, The Barmy Army will follow the team every step of the way – bringing our unique support style to compete against the roars of the passionate Indian crowds.
If you’re joining us in the stands or setting that early alarm to watch at home via TNT Sports – ensure you have a copy of the Barmy Army Songbook ready to cheer on Stokesy and the team at the vital moments.
We strive to be England’s much-needed 12th man when the going gets tough, but we also look to celebrate the game we all love with cricket fans from all over the world – no more so than reconnecting with our friends at the Bharat Army.
