The Barmy Army has been travelling the world and following cricket since 1994. We like to think we know a thing or two about the best cricketing experiences, so we have pulled together the ultimate cricket bucket list. In no particular order…
Watch the Boxing Day Ashes Test at the MCG
The Boxing Day Test match at the MCG is truly iconic, especially during an Ashes series. Join the Barmy Army at the Ashes Down Under in 2025/26 and be part of the 100,000-strong crowd at one of the biggest sporting spectacles on earth.
Watch…and then play a game of cricket at Newlands, Cape Town
It’s hard to beat the backdrop of Table Mountain at Newlands. Watching a Test match in Cape Town is pretty high on most cricket fans lists, but our members were also lucky enough to play on the ground themselves on ‘Day 6’ of the famous 2020 Test match, which England won late on. Genuine money can’t buy experience for our members, so be sure to register your interest here for our next trip to South Africa…
Eat street food during a Test match in Pakistan
England’s return to Pakistan in 2022, after a 17-year hiatus, exceeded all expectations. As the Barmy Army, we were received with wide open arms and left with even wider bellies! The Pakistani cuisine is mouth-wateringly delicious, and you can often get a homemade Biryani during the lunch break of a Test as you soak in the unique atmosphere of a cricket-loving nation.

Hear the Great Escape in the Hollies at Edgbaston
Travelling around the world and watching England is still one of life’s great pleasures. However, they say home is where the heart is, and a pumping Hollies stand during an England Test match is true bliss. Add our trumpeter blasting out a rendition of Great Escape, and 6,000 Barmy Army members erupting as England take wickets. A day out at Edgbaston is one not to be missed.

Watch a Test match in the Himalayas
One of the most exciting reasons to visit India is that due to the sheer size of the country each destination has its own unique experiences. None more so than Dharamshala, set in the foot of the world’s most famous mountain range: the Himalayas. Amazingly, there is a cricket stadium here which regularly hosts international matches with the most breathtaking of backdrops. Be sure to join England there next March for the 5th Test of our tour to India.

Swim in the party stand pool in Barbados
If you haven’t seen a picture of a group of England fans swimming whilst watching cricket at the Kennington Oval, where have you been? The party stand, and its accompanying beach (and rum) is one of the coolest places to watch cricket. Take in the Caribbean energy whilst watching England play the West Indies with your feet in a pool.
Watch a Test from a grass bank in New Zealand
The cricket grounds in New Zealand are somehow a microcosm of the Kiwi way of life: chilled out and super fun. They have managed to build grounds that are of the standard of the best international arenas but have the feel of your local village green. The long journey is entirely worth it, with this being a secret favourite tour of many Barmy regulars.

Sing Jerusalem with the Barmy Army abroad
Do you remember being a kid when you first walked up a turnstile at a footie match to see the pitch for the first time? When Finchy blasts up his pipes after the first ball, and you have travelled around the world to watch the England team, expect a similar, if not better, feeling. You won’t ever forget that first Jerusalem abroad and will be pining for more – trust us!
