T20 World Cup - Australia

Having been on so many Ashes tours now and with Supporters Clubs well established in every State we are perfectly positioned to give all travelling fans some great advice and tips about the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

We are not arranging any official tours this time as we are in between travel partners and with the new partnership to be announced on October 3^rd there was no time available to get anything arranged.

However, given the structure and set up of the competition it is so easy to get tickets and to secure your own accommodation. We would encourage you to make your own travel arrangements and then to meet up with fellow travelling fans and the Australian based Barmy Army supporter clubs in each state as get togethers are being arranged for the night before and the day of each game. We expect to have hundreds of England fans at each game to back the lads. 

Our top tip when flying to Australia from the UK is to arrive at least 48 hrs before the first game you want to watch. Jet lag is a killer and we have seen so many travelling fans leave the test matches after the first session absolutely shattered having landed the day before. It takes you at least a day to recover so give yourself that extra day and enjoy the game to the max.

Day Night 7pm Saturday 22^nd October –Perth V Afghanistan

Day Night 3pm Wednesday 26^th October Melbourne v Ireland Runner Up with a Double Header at 7pm  New Zealand v Afghanistan

Day Night 7pm Friday 28^th October Melbourne v Australia with a Double Header 3pm Afghanistan v B2

Day Night 6pm Tuesday 1^st November Brisbane v New Zealand

Semifinals

Tickets

The good news is that as for the Ashes the ICC have allocated England fans zones which makes it very easy for us to buy tickets in a specific area of each ground, The grounds are huge, and we expect attendance at all the round robin games to be low with the exception of the Australia v England match at the MCG.

To buy tickets go to the official T20 World Cup page - ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 and go to the Squad England tab for each match.  

For the match at the SCG on Saturday 5^th November Bays 12 and 13 which are the England Squad Bays have sold out so just buy into bays 11 at $20 or Bay 14 at $40 which are the next bays in the Victor Trumper Stand.

Tickets in our bays for the Super 12 games are great value at just $20 for adults at all matches with the exception of the match v Australia at the MCG when they go to $90 and the match at the SCG where as noted before are $40 in bay 14 or $20 in bay 11.

If we qualify for the semi-final alongside Australia from our group, then Australia are confirmed to play their semi-final at the SCG which means that our semi-final would be on the 10^th November at 6.30pm in Adelaide.  

If we qualify and Australia don’t then our semi-final could be at the SCG on the 9^th November at 7pm or at Adelaide on the 10^th at 6.30pm.

We have been liaising with the fan engagement manager for the tournament and whilst no bays are being allocated to any supporter group for either the semi-final or final, we will be working together and recommending areas of each ground to buy into. We will update social media and the dedicated Facebook group accordingly very shortly after knowing whether we have qualified for the semi- final and got through to the final.

HQs in every City are the place to buy Barmy Army T20 Merchandise. 

We will be arranging a pre match get together the night before every England match and a meet up on the afternoon of the game. 

Barmy Army merchandise will only be available from these HQs during these times. Payment will be by either cash or card.

Perth 

The night before, Friday 21^st October meets up with the Perth Barmies from 6pm at The Royal on the Waterfront, 60 Royal Street, East Perth (our very popular lunchtime HQ on the 2017/18 Ashes Tour). 

Pre-Match Day meet up with the Perth Barmy Army Supporters Club at Darren’s Small Bar, 23 The Circus, Burswood WA6100 from 3pm

And/Or 

From 3pm at The Camfield, 1 Roger MacKay Drive, Burswood (adjacent to the ground and the largest stand-alone pub in Australia).

Melbourne 

We will be in Melbourne for a few days with the 2 matches so our HQ will once again be Beer DeLuxe in Federation Square. We will be there the evening before both matches on Tuesday 25^th and Thursday 27^th from 6pm and there on both match days the 26^th and 28^th October from midday.

Brisbane

We will be at The Pig N Whistle Riverside on Monday 31^st October from 6pm.

On the day of the game, we will be meeting up at The Pineapple from 1pm and plan to watch the Melbourne Cup there.

Sydney

We will be at Henley’s in Darling Harbour, 9 Lime Street on Friday 4^th November from 6pm.

On match day we will be in Watsons within the Entertainment Quarter next to the SCG from 3pm.
